Delight Zero Card

Your budgets hold the money. The card carries only what they release.

The Delight Zero Card is a physical AfriGo debit card, issued by Sterling Bank, for POS terminals and ATMs across Nigeria. It starts at zero. When you’re ready to pay, you choose the budgets that fund the spend and the amount, and only that amount becomes available on the card, for a set time.

A card linked to a balance can spend all of that balance.

If rent money and eating-out money sit behind the same card, the card cannot tell them apart. At the till, the payment takes whichever money is there.

The rent plan can fail at a POS terminal even though the plan existed. Finding out later, in a statement, is observation, not control.

The Delight Zero Card is funded per spend, from the budgets you choose. The purpose is decided before the card can pay.

How it works

  1. 1

Choose the budgets that will pay

One budget, or several for a bigger shopping trip. The purpose is decided before the card can pay.

  2. 2

    Approve the amount

The amount you choose is reserved from those budgets and becomes available on your card. Nothing else is.

  3. 3

Pay at a POS or withdraw at an ATM

One spend can cover several payments until its amount or its time runs out.

  4. 4

    The card returns to zero

Return what’s left yourself, or let the countdown do it. Unused money goes back to the budgets it came from.

A spend stays available for 3 hours by default, and you can set it for up to 24 hours. The countdown prevents money from being left on the card indefinitely: when it ends, any unused amount is returned automatically to the budgets it came from, bringing the card back to zero.

What this changes

Every card payment has a source budget.

Food money pays for food, whether you pay by transfer or at a POS terminal.

Outside a spend, there is nothing on the card.

The card has no access to your account balance. It carries only what a budget has released, for as long as you set.

Unused money keeps its purpose.

When a spend ends, what’s left returns to the budgets that funded it, not to a general balance.
